Enrolled agents (EA) are the only individuals licensed by the Internal Revenue Code only after proving their competence to the IRS.  In order to maintain our license we must fullfill 24 CPE units a year, CPA who are licensed by the state only have to fulfill 3 CPE a year of taxation.
